Baseline water testing is an expensive necessity now that Illinois plans on fracking our communities. Many landowners in rural Southern Illinois rely on underground water sources for drinking, bathing, farming and livestock. The law requires water to be tested and will be paid for by the fracking company–IF, and only if you live within 1,500 feet of the well site.
The issue with this requirement: well bore will extend over a mile, that is more than 5,280 feet. Many rural landowners will have to purchase their own test to insure that if something does go wrong with their artesian well, they have the proof the water was safe before fracking began. Please donate if you can for this expensive $400 test that will help should litigation become necessary.
